Essential Oils 101

What oils do you use?
I only use (CPTG) Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils.  CPTG represent the safest, purest, and most beneficial essential oils available today.  Essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits.  They do not contain fillers or artificial ingredients that would dilute their active qualities. CPTG oils are guaranteed to be 100% pure.  They are subjected to rigorous mass spectrometry and gas chromatography testing to ensure extract composition and activity.  Oils are only taken from plants grown in the right conditions and environments and harvested at the right time to ensure the correct composition of the active natural compounds found in each oil.  Email me at allisonbrimblecom@gmail.com to find out the brand I use and receive a link to my website.

Can't I just get Essential Oils at Whole Foods?
There are a growing number of products claiming to be or to contain essential oils.  They range in price and quality and can be found in skin care cosmetics, aromatherapy, and other products.  However, even if labeled 100% pure essential oils…many of these products use fragrant synthetic chemical substitutes to dilute or replace more expensive essential oil extracts.  These products can't be guaranteed safe or effective.  They may be diluted with carrier oils, contain synthetics, pesticides, plant particles, or other ingredients that can cause side effects.

How are essential oils used?
  • Aromatically - Use a low heat or now heat diffuser or breathe from hands to receive aromatic benefits.  Essential oils can be used to energize, soothe or calm.  They can rid the air of unwanted odors and some airborne germs and pathogens.  They can also be used as cleaning products around the home.
  • Topically - Essential oils are easily absorbed and safe to apply directly to the skin for an internal benefit throughout the body.  They have restorative, balancing, and calming properties.  Many oils are best used when applied to the bottoms of the feet.  The feet have large pores and can get the oil straight into the bloodstream.  Not to mention all the benefits of the reflex points on the feet.
  • Internally - Essential oils can also be used as dietary supplements.  Some have powerful antioxidant properties while others help support healthy inflammatory response in cells.  Many are regarded as safe for dietary use, but some oils should not be taken internally.  Do not use any essential oil product internally that does not have the appropriate dietary supplement facts on its label.  Only take Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Oils with Supplement Facts on the bottle internally.
